Calcific tricuspid incompetence in childhood.

چکیده
Calcification of the tricuspid valve is rare. Previously reported cases have been associated with increased pressure in the right ventricle or a left-to-right shunt proximal to the tricuspid valve. Furthermore, the calcification has not been evident until the fifth decade of life or later. A case is reported here in which moderately severe tricuspid valve calcification was present ,at I0 years of age. There was isolated tricuspid incompetence, in itself an uncommon disorder, with normal right ventricular pressure and no intracardiac shunting.

Contractural arachnodactyly with mitral regurgitation and iridodonesis.
An infant girl with arachnodactyly, spontaneously resolving contractures, dolichostenomelia, iridodonesis, and mitral and tricuspid incompetence died in cardiac failure. We confirm that congenital contractural arachnodactyly may exhibit serious cardiovascular and ophthalmic complications like Marfan's syndrome. The presence of iridodonesis further obscures the differentiation between classical ...
متن کاملTricuspid incompetence in cor pulmonale.
In a survey of the Sheffield Region, Stuart-Harris, Twidle, and Clifton (1959) found that cor pulmonale was the commonest cause of heart failure resulting in admission to hospital. The investigation to be described was initiated when a patient in heart failure due to cor pulmonale was found to have a systolic murmur suggesting tricuspid incompetence which radiated down below the diaphragm into ...
متن کاملHow to do the double orifice valve technique to treat tricuspid valve incompetence.
A straightforward tricuspid valve repair technique is illustrated here, which may be employed either for functional (normal valve with dilated annulus) or for primary or organic (Ebstein's anomaly, leaflet retraction/tethering and chordal malposition/tethering, with annular dilatation) tricuspid valve incompetence and for moderate and severe degrees of incompetence, without any residual regurgi...

A case of persistent tricuspid incompetence due to acute myocardial infarction is described. Review of the literature has revealed no similar case.

one patient with tricuspid incompetence due to a ruptured papillary muscle after myocardial infarction. The higher incidence of left ventricular papillary muscle dysfunction reported (Heikkila, 1967) must be largely due to the higher incidence of left ventricular infarction observed by various workers (Wartman & Hellerstein, 1948; Zaus & Kearns, 1952). This patient had minimal dilatation of the...
